Mountainous slopes of volcanic origin occupy about half of the area of the Federal District, largely in the south, where ancient lava beds called pedregales underlie much of the modern built-up area. Instead of being pressurized to sea-level equivalent, at cruising altitudes of 25,000-35,000 feet, aircraft cabins are pressurized to the equivalent of 6,000-8,000 feet above sea level. It has the highest altitude of any circuit and by quite some margin, situated 2,285 metres above sea level, five-times the height. The downtown lies at an elevation of some 7,350 feet (2,240 metres), but overall elevations average above 8,000 feet (2,400 metres). If altitude turns out to be a real and serious concern, you and your treater should also consider the advisablity of airplane travel. Both mountain ranges extend south from the US border, and between them is the high Mexican Plateau.

Again your health care professional should be sufficiently familiar with the medications to determine whether this would be a problem, and whether there's the possibility of at least temporarily switching to another class of medications before and during your trip. Mexico Citys mountains, though, easily reach 5,000 meters. Certain classes of medications used to treat high blood pressure (and for that matter other medical conditions) can however have some impact as an example beta blockers slow your heart rate which can cause problems a higher altitudes where there's less oxygen and your heart tends to beat slightly faster, until other physiological adaptations take place. Unless your blood pressure is extremely high, unstable, and/or uncontrolled you usually don't see warnings about high blood pressure and altitude, at least until far greater altitudes. This is something that you need to discuss further with the health care professional familiar with your health profile as well as what medications, if any are being used to treat your condition.
